PhD student in Social and Cultural Anthropology | Computer Scientist in the making | Humanoid Robotics and AI | she/her
My name is Tamara Gupper and I am a PhD researcher in Social and Cultural Anthropology at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. I am a doctoral fellow at the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes). Between April and June 2023, I was a Visiting PhD Student at the Anthropology Department of the Danish School of Education in Copenhagen.
For my PhD project, I conduct ethnographic research among a team of computer scientists who program humanoid robots to play soccer. Being a computer science student myself, I also actively participate in programming within this team. Through both ethnographic and autoethnographic insights, I want to understand the processes through which software for humanoid robots is written.
I am also a co-founder of The Safer Fieldwork Project, a member of the Code Ethnography Collective and a huge fan of generative art.
